While excercising in an LA Fitness swimming pool south of Houston, a 70-year-old woman was nearly drown, prompting a gym member to perform CPR and resuscitate her at the scene.
After another swimmer saw the victim in distress, he pulled her from the water. Another gym member -- a registered nurse -- performed CPR on the victim, who was breathing but unconscious when Missouri City police arrived.
She was taken to Sugar Land Methodist Hospital, and her condition is not known at this time.
Late last year, a woman drowned in the same pool after going into cardiac arrest while doing water aerobics. A club member also performed CPR on the victim, but resuscitation was unsuccessful, and she died.
Reports say no lifeguards are stationed at the pool, but all employees are CPR certified.
