Off-Duty Fire Fighter Saves Drowning Teen

A five-year-old Fort Collins, Colorado boy got very lucky recently when an off-duty Poudre Fire Authority firefighter saved his life from a near-drowning.

Firefighter Michael Dairon, who was evidently a patron at the same pool where the so-far unidentified youngster went underwater, came the the aid of the boy's father, who had seen him in distress and pulled him from the community pool in eastern Fort Collins. The youngster didn't have a heartbeat at the time, reports say. 

Dairon performed CPR on the boy, who awoke and started breathing on his own. He was treated and transported by EMS workers to Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins.
