Twin girls Veronica and Angelina Andreottola were 2 years, 8 months old, when they died on last summer at their Boston-area home. Officials have determined it was simply a tragic accident, reports say.
The deaths of Lynnfield twins, who drowned in the family backyard pool, were caused when one of the girls managed to push a switch that opened the pool safety cover. Once that happened, they entered the pool.
A neighbor spotted them and called emergency services, at the same time attempting CPR on both girls. The girls were unresponsive. Although emergency personnel continued the life-saving efforts and transported the girls to Lynn Union Hospital, they were ultimately pronounced dead.
