Shauna-Kaye Williams, 16 of Newark, New Jersey, was identified as a Hotel drowning victim in a Long Beach, California Courtyard by Marriott swimming pool.
Williams, 16, was found unconscious at the Courtyard Marriott pool in downtown Long Beach on a recent evening where she and other students had made the trip from Newark, New Jersey, for a high school First Robotics Competition, also known as Logo Motion at the Long Beach Arena, reports say.
Reports say that that Williams and a friend snuck out of their room and went down to the hotel jacuzzi, and then into the pool. Williams reportedly did not know how to swim.
After being discovered, Williams was connected to a heart monitor and was transported to St. Mary's Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.
